Having grown up with my mother’s painting easel planted in the center of the kitchen, art has always been at the center of my life.  For nearly thirty-five years, I have explored the Japanese resist dying method of Shibori on fabric and paper.  More recently, I have created installations integrating Shibori with materials such as wood and metal.
I studied art education at the University of Cincinnati and I hold an MFA in textiles from Miami University.  I have shown my work nationally and internationally as part of the World Shibori Network and Yoshiko Wada features my work in the book “Memory on Cloth.”

The Fletcher Studio is located on Vashon Island in the Puget Sound.  The studio is open by appointment.  Contact the studio at 206-463-1979 or studiofletcher@gmail.com.
